This past Wednesday, the lesson was centered upon the Great Commission, found in Matthew 28. As a church, part of our participation in the Great Commission comes from our giving, which supports the cooperative program of the Southern Baptist Convention. This program serves the purpose of providing a place to pool the money together of many churches and thus support missionaries around the globe.
The ONE80 Students are learning this principle in a practical way. We are buying a dairy goat for a family in need through World Vision. The cost is $75. While this is a lot of money, especially for a teen, we are asking no single person to pay the entire cost alone. If everyone in the group gives a few dollars, we can give the gift of a dairy goat. This is the same principle at work within the cooperative program.
Be encouraged by this, and ask your teen why supporting missionaries is important. It may spark a conversation that would be worth having in your family.
